EDUCATION

I believe education is an investment in our future. I understand our children must be able to compete with their peers at home and abroad. With the opportunity to receive a valuable education comes the responsibility to raise the bar and exceed expectations. This means parents, teachers and students must all work together to make Indiana second to none when it comes to achieving educational excellence. I will work to ensure that education at all levels is affordable for every family, and give our students and teachers the tools they need to succeed in the classroom.

JOBS

I believe we need to boost Indiana’s economy by growing businesses we already have and by making sure we are ready to take advantage of the next wave of new jobs. Future growth in Indiana will build on our strong work ethic and our ability to create and retain high-paying jobs. As a State Representative, I will work to invest in green collar jobs, information solutions and Indiana businesses.

I worked with legislators in both parties to pass resolutions encouraging state and local governments to use American-made products in their projects whenever
possible. I will work to create new manufacturing jobs for Hoosier workers by developing the demand for the industrial components for wind, solar and other clean energy right here in Indiana.

PROTECTING OUR WORKERS

I fought attempts to gut Indiana’s unemployment insurance benefits, ensuring that working families can count on a lifeline when they lose a job through no fault of their own.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

When it comes to fiscal responsibility, I will work to make sure we’re getting the most out of every tax dollar and will block any effort to shift the tax burden to our local cities, counties and property tax payers. Reducing property taxes, making government more efficient and balancing the state’s budget are the essential elements for driving growth in the private sector. This keeps hard-earned money in the pockets of Indiana’s working families, where it belongs. I am determined to curb wasteful spending at the state level and will look for creative ways to provide the same level of service our citizens expect from their state government at a lower cost.
